About the country

Background:
Armenia, situated along the route of the Great Silk Road, is a landlocked country of rugged mountains and extinct volcanoes, located in the southern Caucasus, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
It is the smallest of the former Soviet republics, bounded by Georgia on the north, Azerbaijan on the east, Iran on the south, and Turkey on the west.
History:
Armenia was a regional empire with a rich culture in the years leading up to the 1st Century CE, at one period controlling all the land between the Black and Caspian Seas.
In 301, Armenia was the first state to formally adopt Christianity as its official state religion, twelve years before Rome. It also changed between various dynasties. But after Parthian (Iranian), Roman, Arab, Mongol and Persian occupation, Armenia had been substantially weakened. In 1454, the Ottoman Empire and Safavid Persia divided Armenia among themselves.

History

In medieval times University of Gladzor and University of Tatev took an important role for whole Armenia.
A literacy rate of 100% was reported as early as 1960.[136] In the communist era, Armenian education followed the standard Soviet model of complete state control (from Moscow) of curriculam and teaching methods and close integration of education activities with other aspects of society, such as politics, culture, and the economy
In the 1988–89 school year, 301 students per 10,000 population were in specialized secondary or higher education, a figure slightly lower than the Soviet average. In 1989 some 58% of Armenians over age fifteen had completed their secondary education, and 14% had a higher education. In the 1990–91 school year, the estimated 1,307 primary and secondary schools were attended by 608,800 students. Another seventy specialised secondary institutions had 45,900 students, and 68,400 students were enrolled in a total of ten postsecondary institutions that included universities. In addition, 35% of eligible children attended preschools. In 1992 Armenia's largest institution of higher learning, Yerevan State University, had eighteen departments, including ones for social sciences, sciences, and law, .Its faculty numbered about 1,300 teachers and its student population about 10,000 students. The National Polytechnic University of Armenia is operating since 1933.
In the early 1990s, Armenia made substantial changes to the centralised and regimented Soviet system. Because at least 98% of students in higher education were Armenian, curriculam began to emphasise Armenian history and culture. Armenian became the dominant language of instruction, and many schools that had taught in Russian closed by the end of 1991. Russian was still widely taught, however, as a second language.
In 2014, the National Program for Educational Excellence embarked on creating an internationally competitive and academically rigorous alternative educational program (the Araratian Baccalaureate) for Armenian schools and increase the importance and status of the teacher's role in society.

YEREVAN CITY

Is the capital and largest city of Armenia as well as one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Situated along the Hrazdan River, Yerevan is the administrative, cultural, and industrial center of the country. It has been the capital since 1918, the fourteenth in the history of Armenia and the seventh located in or around the Ararat plain. The city also serves as the seat of the Araratian Pontifical Diocese; the largest diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and one of the oldest dioceses in the world.
The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by king Argishti at the western extreme of the Ararat plain. Erebuni was "designed as a great administrative and religious centre, a fully royal capital." By the late ancient Armenian Kingdom, new capital cities were established and Yerevan declined in importance. Under Iranian and Russian rule, it was the center of the Erivan Khanate from 1736 to 1828 and the Erivan Governorate from 1850 to 1917, respectively. After World War I, Yerevan became the capital of the First Republic of Armenia as thousands of survivors of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empirearrived in the area. The city expanded rapidly during the 20th century as Armenia became part of the Soviet Union. In a few decades, Yerevan was transformed from a provincial town within the Russian Empire to Armenia's principal cultural, artistic, and industrial center, as well as becoming the seat of national government.
With the growth of the Armenian economy, Yerevan has undergone major transformation. Much construction has been done throughout the city since the early 2000s, and retail outlets such as restaurants, shops, and street cafés, which were rare during Soviet times, have multiplied. As of 2011, the population of Yerevan was 1,060,138, just over 35% of the Republic of Armenia's total population. According to the official estimate of 2016, the current population of the city is 1,073,700. Yerevan was named the 2012 World Book Capital by UNESCO. Yerevan is an associate member of Eurocities.
Of the notable landmarks of Yerevan, Erebuni Fortress is considered to be the birthplace of the city, the Katoghike Tsiranavor church is the oldest surviving church of Yerevan and Saint Gregory Cathedral is the largest Armenian cathedral in the world, Tsitsernakaberd is the official memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and several opera houses, theatres, museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions. Yerevan Opera Theatre is the main spectacle hall of the Armenian capital, the National Gallery of Armenia is the largest art museum in the Republic of Armenia and shares a building with the History Museum of Armenia, and the Matenadaran repository contains one of the largest depositories of ancient books and manuscripts in the world.

NEET compulsion for MBBS in Abroad

Qualifying the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is mandatory for students seeking to pursue MBBS courses from foreign medical institutions, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has declared via a public notice on March 8, 2018.
The information, which had already been made public earlier by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) during the time of the release of the NEET notification in February 2018, has now been officially confirmed through the MCI notice. As per the MCI, the existing practice of issuing eligibility certificate to candidates desirous of pursuing MBBS abroad will be done away with from June 1, 2018, onwards and the result of NEET will be treated as the new eligibility certificate from thereon.
The notification clarifies that the new rule has been introduced by the MCI with approval from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The ‘Screening Tests Regulations 2002’ and ‘Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admissions in an undergraduate medical course in Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002’, which lay down the rules and regulations for candidates seeking to pursue or who already possess MBBS qualification from abroad, have been accordingly amended by the MCI.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the exam conducting body of NEET 2018, has published the MCI notice on its website on March 10, 2018, for the reference of NEET 2018 aspirants.
What Does MCI Notice Regarding NEET state?
“Public at large is hereby informed that in terms of Clause 4(2A) of the ‘Screening Test Regulation, 2002’ and Clause 8(iv) of the ‘Eligibility Requirement for Taking Admission in an undergraduate medical course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulation, 2002’, an India National/Overseas Citizen of India who are desirous for taking admission in MBBS or its equivalent medical course in a medical University/College/Institute outside the country on or after 1st June, 2018 shall have to mandatorily qualify the NEET,” the notice reads. The notice further informs that “the requirement of Eligibility Certificate in respect of such person(s) who would take admission in MBBS or equivalent medical course in a medical university outside the country on or after 1st June, 2018, has been dispensed off. The result of the NEET for admission to MBBS Course shall deem to be treated as Eligibility Certificate for such persons.”
NEET Qualification certificate is the new 'eligibility certificate' for students dreaming of MBBS abroad
As per the previous MCI regulations, candidates seeking to study MBBS or equivalent medical courses from abroad were required to obtain an eligibility certificate from MCI if they wished to come back to India for practicing medicine. No candidate without an eligibility certificate from MCI was allowed to appear for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test through which Indian nationals with foreign medical qualfications are granted permission to practice in India.
Now, with the introduction of new changes in MCI regulations, the earlier requirement of obtaining eligibility certificate has been dispensed off and NEET qualification status will be treated as the MCI eligibility certificate for a student seeking admission in MBBS abroad.
What are NEW REGULATIONS of MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) earlier clarified that this new rule of mandatorily qualifying NEET for admission to MBBS courses in abroad is not applicable to students who are already pursuing MBBS or equivalent degrees from outside India. “Students who have already taken admission under current regulations to pursue primary medical course by taking Eligibility Certificate from MCI are exempted from qualifying NEET”, stated the clarification note released by MoHFW on February 22, 2018.
The new MCI regulations making NEET mandatory for pursuing MBBS abroad will only be applicable to students seeking to pursue MBBS or equivalent qualification from abroad on or after June 1, 2018. Students who are already pursuing or have gotten admission in foreign medical institutions need not worry about qualifying NEET as long as they have the eligibility certificate issued by MCI.
