About Dalian City

The city's climate is a monsoon influenced humid continental climate, characterized by humid summers due to the East Asian monsoon, and cold, windy, dry winters that reflect the influence of the vast Siberian anticyclone. Average low temperatures in January are at around -6° C, while average high temperatures in July are at around 27°C.Dalian has a modern and recently (2006) expanded international airport, Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport, with direct flights to the most major cities in China, and to the selected cities in Japan, South Korea and Germany.

The city's location means that train trips to most Chinese cities outside China's northeastern region require changing trains in Shanghai or Beijing.

Dalian is a famous seaside tourism city and a summer resort thanks to its islets scattered all over like stars, picturesque scenery, pleasant climate, beautiful buildings in the city proper, and fascinating night scenes. Dalian is one of the many cities in China where there are no longer many bicycles, and where there are few motorcycles, because their sale is prohibited. The number of cars on Dalian streets has increased dramatically in recent years, but traffic continues to circulate relatively smoothly. The city has a comprehensive bus system and an efficient Dalian Metro system, usually called Qinggui which connects Dalian Development Zone and Jinshitan with downtown Dalian. The Dalian Tram system is the second oldest in China.

ABOUT DALIAN MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Dalian Medical University was found in 1947, originally known as Guandong Medical College. In 1949, it joined with Dalian University and the name was changed. In 1950, the organizational system of Dalian University was cancelled and since then Dalian Medial College had become an independent college. In 1969, the college moved to Zunyi, a city of Guizhou Province, to establish the Zunyi Medical College. And in 1978, the college moved back to its original location in Dalian, still with the name of Dalian Medical College. In 1994, approved by the State Education Commission (SEC), Dalian Medical University adopted its present name. Nowadays, the university has fledged into a multi-disciplinary medical university which also offers programs in other fields like arts, science, management, and law.

Dalian Medical University occupies an area of 1,139,700 square meters, with the floorage amounting to 382,900 square meters. The total fixed asset is 224 million RMB, and all the teaching and research equipment and facilities are worth about 82.56 million RMB. The university now has 25 management organizations, 14 second-level schools, 4 directly affiliated organizations, 5 affiliated hospitals, 3 of which are indirectly under the university, and 38 clinical teaching bases. The new campus of Dalian Medical University is located in the middle of the south of Lvshun Binhai Road. With 45 independent buildings, the South Campus is the main area for teaching, living and sports. The North Campus is the second programming project.

Carrying forward the history and initiating a new epoch, Dalian Medical University is sparing no efforts to establish itself as an advanced, multi-disciplinary, multi-level and comprehensive teaching and researching medical university.
