About Fengtai City
Fengtai is located in the southwest of Beijing City, under the jurisdiction area of 304.87 square kilometres, in six areas of the city ranks third, the surrounding 8 adjacent area. East of Chaoyang District, north of Dongcheng District, Xicheng District, Haidian District and Shijingshan District, northwest of Mentougou District, southwest and southeast to Fangshan District and Daxing District. District Government is in the town of Fengtai Road No. 2, straight 12 kilometers away from Tiananmen. The region is narrow in shape, the westernmost town thousands of Lingshan to the easternmost of the four Dao Kou Cun Nanyuan Xiang, a distance of 35 km north-south width 14 km. Yongding River from north to south by Shijingshan flows through this area entered Daxing District, about 15 km long river, Fengtai will be divided into two parts. Fengtai District is located in the southwest of urban area of Beijing City with total area of 304 square kilometres. Located at “Beijing Gulf” Plain, it is of the north of North China Plain with altitude of about 44 meters and is of warm belt and semi-humid monsoon climate, hot and rainy in summer and cold in winter, short and drought spring. Average temperature in January is -5-10 degrees centigrade and in July is 24-26 degrees centigrade. Fengtai District lies against the mountain in northwest, and is 150Km away from the Bo sea in southeast. Yongding River flows from Shijingshan, through the district, and enters Daxing District. The river section with length of 15Km divided Fengtai into 2 parts in the east and west.


Capital Medical University (CCMU) was founded in 1960. It ranks among the top academic medical institutions in China, and is considered as one of the key municipal universities in Beijing. The founding President, Professor Wu Jieping, was a world-renowned urologist, member of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The current President is Professor Lu Zhao Feng.
CCMU consists of 10 Schools, 14 affiliated hospitals and 1 teaching institution. The university and the affiliated hospitals have a staff of about 20,000. Among the staff, there are 6 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 1,000 professors, and over 2,000 associate professors. The university has over 9,000 enrolled students. CMU provides a wide range of educational programs for Doctorates, Masters, Bachelors and certificates.
The faculty physicians at CCMU train annually several thousands of clinical residents and fellows.
